Prior to establishing Harper Stone, James was responsible for running the NSW Division of Squiz, one of the leading Australian technology providers with a significant government and higher education portfolio.

James successfully led the delivery of a number of multi-million dollar technology projects including the Macquarie University Website Redevelopment on Squiz Matrix, Enterprise Search solution using Funnelback for the NSW Family and Community Services ChildStory Program and the Magento e-commerce solution for Lexis Nexis Australia and New Zealand.
